John Waters is an American filmmaker and writer from Baltimore known for his transgressive, camp-saturated cult films including Pink Flamingos (1972) and Hairspray (1988). Dubbed the "Pope of Trash" by William Burroughs, he is one of the most distinctive auteurs in American independent cinema.
